Cyst on ovary or ovarian cyst is a fluid-inundated sac forming inside or on the ovaries though they can develop in any area of the body. Functional cyst is the commonest form developing during a woman’s monthlies and is of duo kinds – namely:

Follicle cysts which arise due to the sac not rupturing for releasing the egg. The pouch would then start increasing in size. Such form of cyst mostly subsides within one to three months.

Corpus luteum cysts develop due to the sac not dissolving; rather it would seal off following egg release. Accruement of fluids then takes place within the sac. Majority of such cysts disappear following some weeks. They could increase in size to nearly four inches. These atypically malignant cysts might emit blood or start twisting the ovary that can get rather painful. Several medications deployed for ovulation induction like Serophene, Clomid could augment risk of cysts developing.

Other Types of Cyst on Ovary include:

Dermoid Cysts –
They have several forms of cells which might be full of tooth, hairs & some tissue which would then turn out to be a component of the cyst. They could grow in size & be causing pains.

Endometriomas –
These cysts develop in females having endometriosis. Such an issue arises when tissue appearing & acting alike the uterine lining starts growing exterior to the uterus. The tissue might affix to the ovary & start forming a growth. Presence of such cysts could be causal to pains at the time of sexual intercourse & when a woman menstruates.

Polycystic ovaries –
Such cysts develop when egg maturation inside the sac occurs though its release does not occur. The cycle tends to recur leading to the sac continually growing & several cysts forming.
