Cyst on ovary or ovarian cyst is a fluid-inundated sac forming inside or on the ovaries though they can develop in any area of the body. Functional cyst is the commonest form developing during a woman’s monthlies and is of duo kinds – namely:
Follicle cysts which arise due to the sac not rupturing for releasing the egg. The pouch would then start increasing in size. Such form of cyst mostly subsides within one to three months.
Corpus luteum cysts develop due to the sac not dissolving; rather it would seal off following egg release. Accruement of fluids then takes place within the sac. Ovarian cysts are commonly present in ninety percent of females in their childbearing years based on the acuteness of the condition. Ovarian cysts are non-contagious as opposed to what is often believed & most of them would not lead to malignancy.
Ovarian cysts are basically sacs or pouches developing inside/on the ovary mostly during the phase when a woman ovulates. They could be fluid-filled or be firm or a mix of fluid plus unyielding matter. Although an ovarian cyst is smallish and sized like peas or kidney beans, it could reach sizes matching that of soft balls or bigger.
Ovarian cyst symptoms differ in accordance to the form. Ovarian cyst can be any of the following:
